Ah, London! Honestly, I have a love/hate relationship with the capital, mostly love though. Being currently a small-town-type of a girl (or city, we have a cathedral ?!) …
… brb… off to check…
Ok, I’m officially the most confused person in the world – sooo, according to ‘various’ UK sources – a city must have a cathedral, size doesn’t matter (ha!), therefore I should say I live in a city! On the contrary, according to Wikipedia, I’m living in a town. Apparently, we haven’t been granted the status of a city!
Anyway, I was right to start-off my sentence with the above expression. Continuing, being currently a small town type of a girl, I was always attracted by the tall beautiful buildings and affluent residential areas such as Chelsea. Include that into the busy but exciting lifestyle and you get the perfect city! I’ve never been bored when visiting London, and now there was another reason making me regret not living in the capital – London Fashion Week! It came and went like the British summer itself – yes, we literally had one full week of proper summer! London proved once again how multicultural it is, despite the Brexit situation, there were designers who have come from away. With the likes of Armani, Versus and Hilfiger, fashion week just got that tiny bit better (not that it was in need of any more glamour!).
London Fashion Week: Highlights
Seemed like Burberry and Christopher Bailey have cemented their rightful place in the fashion industry, despite the falling sales.
Armani returned to London after more than a 10-year break with a fun and youthful show.
Versus Versace dedicated the show to ‘everyone who dares to express themselves in everything they do’. Versace sizzled once again with plenty of fishnet vests, sleeveless denim jackets and cowgirl-themed pieces.
Edie Campbell opened Molly Goddard’s show with an e-cigarette and a glass of Champagne, making me wonder what happened backstage and why didn’t I get an invite!
Refreshingly, we saw minimalism in apparels from Joseph, J.W. Anderson and Margaret Howell.
Since everything that glitters is not gold, LFW wouldn’t be the same without some anti-fur protestors (I didn’t see Pamela Anderson there!).
Hussein Chalayan’s models brought avant-garde in the house, catwalking unusual head artefacts.
Finally, Hilfiger closed the week with a ‘rock circus’ show at the Roundhouse. The show featured garments from the third Hilfiger x Hadid ghetto grunge collection.
Hence, there you have it, London Fashion Week in a nutshell! In case you’ve missed it, here’s a gallery with some of the best, in my opinion, looks from the catwalk. Enjoy and make sure to let me know what you thought of the show! Oh, have checked my post on NYFW?!
