With everything else going on in my life right now, I almost missed this year’s Pre-Fall 2018 fashion collections! Truthfully, I just forgot about them… Maybe I should start entering memo alerts on my phone? Then again, the chance of hitting the dismiss button without even looking at it is more than likely to happen! On the other hand, I’ll think I’ll forgive myself for my slip up as Pre-Fall fashion collections are the in-between seasons and tend to get lost in the fold.
Gladly, technology comes at hand here and we are now all able to see the missed fashion collections from the comfort of our homes. I saw some amazing and less so garments from my beloved designers. Ahead, a partial overview plus a slideshow with my favourites. Then again, if you don’t want to read my mumbo-jumbo, head over to the slideshow!
Pre-Fall 2018 Fashion Collections: Jonathan Simkhai, Cushnie et Ochs, Elie Saab, Carolina Herrera, Fendi, Sally LaPointe
Jonathan Simkhai proved that Pre-Fall fashion collections can be both comfortable and functional. Moreover, he presented a lot of layering combined with belted cargo miniskirts and off-the-shoulder shirtdress. On the contrary, Cushnie et Ochs took inspiration from iconic artists such as Matisse, LeWitt and Serra. Most of all, the designers’ collection was more than picturesque with curvaceous lines and cut-outs. Meanwhile, Elie Saab showed some striking lace capes, sequined pants and black ponchos.
Carolina Herrera delivered happiness through her colourful seasonals. By the same token Fendi dedicated their collection to the Queen of Hearts. The latter being a seductive woman who “is charming, magnetic, and attractive; she is fun, ironic, but always elegant and passionate about details.” Simultaneously, Sally LaPointe’s new must-haves included the ultra-high paper-bag waist pants in a weightless metallic fabric or in glossy satin.
Pre-Fall 2018 Fashion Collections: KHAITE, Zac Posen, Co, Temperley London, Coach, Haney
Khaite featured trenchcoats, trousers and round-sleeved dresses with an offbeat look. Meanwhile, Zac Posen was inspired by the Fauvist artist Kees van Dongen’s palette when designing a specific evening number in a vivid light green shade. Au contraire, Co delivered opera coats, swingy knife-pleat skirts and tiered ruffled peasant dresses.
High-waist sweaters, handkerchief-hemmed dresses in a fierce geometric pattern in lace or embroidery were seen Temperley London’s Pre-Fall fashion collection. At the same time, Coach joined the wool trend with powder pink lamé sweaters. Moreover, spooky motifs such as poison apples could be seen on jeans. On the contrary, Haney Pre-Fall included a softer kind of her usual sex appeal collections. As a result, tiered ruffles and slinky jersey gowns were part of her softer sexy collection.
Pre-Fall 2018 Fashion Collections: Sachin & Babi, La Vie Rebecca Taylor, Pamella Rolland, Alice + Olivia, Oscar De la Renta, Versace
Sachin & Babi’s Pre-Fall fashion collections impressed with fresh shades of mint and lavender and sun-bleached floral day dresses to wear with sneakers. In the meantime, Pamella Rolland also took an artistic approach with her voluminous skirts and sequin designs. And if you want to add glamour to your life, just pick a number from Alice + Olivia’ Pre-Fall fashion collections! Although the glamour is much softer in their new collection, yet the femininity is overpowering. If you’re a seagull lover, check out Oscar De la Renta new Pre-Fall collection! I just showed to Vlad, my beau, and he loved it (he loves seagulls!). Consequently, the seaside bird featured as a print on a shirtdress, as embroidery on a peplum tunic, and as intarsia on a mink coat. Moreover, some of the garments are featuring fish bones or feathers, yet managing the fabulous look vibe! On the contrary, Versace took Baroque and Neoclassical prints on another level with tight dresses, oversize sweaters and abbreviated padded bombers.
