Save the best for last – goes the old saying and I couldn’t agree more! Paris Fashion Week will always be my favourite out of the whole fashion month. A lot of my favourite designers are presenting at PFW and it seems there is more creativity in the collections. On top of that, it’s based in Paris! What more could we want from a fashion week? Ahead, Paris Fashion Week Fall ’18 highlights and personal favourites in the gallery.
Paris Fashion Week FW ’18 Highlights
- Proenza Schouler showcased a lot of macramé, woven leather, prints, and Western patchwork. The prints were complemented with suspended necklaces of beaten metal.
- At Paris Fashion Week Fall ’18 Chiuri channelled the late ’60s in his Dior collection. Crochets, embroideries and patchworks were seen on school uniform jackets, kilts and handbags.
- Vaccarello managed to design another boot of the season in his Saint Laurent Fall collection. A new chunky platform shape pair of boots was displayed, followed by a glamorous fur-cuffed suede stiletto knee boots. On the other hand, the garments were rich in tailored black leather, embroidery, and fringed trimmings.
- Lots of vintage Lacoste golf graphics at Paris Fashion Week Fall ‘18. Black leather blousons, topcoat featuring recurring gibbon silhouettes and a vaquita-stamped tracksuit caught the eye.
- Classic leather garments such as biker and western jackets could also be seen at Maison Margiela.
- Mulberry injected some much-needed colour in his Fall collection – English floral wallpaper prints were making a colourful statement on his ‘70s-style looks.
- At Paris Fashion Week Fall ’18 Merikoski incorporated lots of asymmetrical hemlines alongside orange and lavender prints in his Aalto collection.
- For Fall, Carmen March seemed fearless with her collection of pop-over dresses in velvet, black fringe, or ultra-soft white leather.
- Dell’Acqua couldn’t resist a hint of shine when a pair of glittery boots presented themselves on the runway. Shimmering teardrop brocade, bib-front dress, and a romantic floaty dress made their way at Rochas’.
- Chloé showcased elongated blazers, full-sleeved chunky ribbed knit paired with a lace-inset pleated skirt, an unstructured trench and a terrific fur embroidered with the little horses from season one.
- This PFW, Paco Rabanne focused on varieties of plastic mesh slip dresses, camisole tops, pencil skirts, beige cashmere sweatshirts and low-heeled cowboy boots.
- Sequins that looked both casual and chic at Ralph & Russo’s show.
- On the runway, Demeulemeester’s models flaunted short peplum skirts, tailored jackets, draped white tops covered by black or shearling trench numbers.
- A lot of multi-washed, multihued banded jeans, argyle-check sweaters and beige knit tube dress swishing with gold metallic fringing hit the soft spot at Y Project’s Fall offerings.
- At Paris Fashion Week Fall ’18 Marant presented Southwestern leitmotifs – denim shirting, blanket coats and chunky knits that riffed on Pendleton-inflected patterns.
- Rousteing took a U-turn approach with his Fall collection – a lot of metallic-finish tailoring, sequinned trenches, and pieces in black PVC were seen throughout Balmain’s collection.
- Each x Other’s Fall offerings consisted darkly romantic florals, seasonal hues like lavender and mint, and white with blue Perspex heels boots.
- Vauthier took inspiration from couture’s key colour statements—ruby red, violet, and English green—for down-filled jackets, crystal-buttoned blazers, denim, animal-stripe sequined numbers, and metallic stiletto boots.
- Altuzarra delivered a pin-striped tailoring with double-layered cropped jackets accented with a row of horizontal buttons. In contrast, dresses were soft with incorporated tiny floral motifs on silk and tie-dye patterns on velvet.
- This Paris Fashion Week Fall ’18 Saab included black leather jackets, silk skirts decorated with dyed fur flowers, black sequined tuxedo jackets and many lace- and fringing-strafed evening gowns in black with marabou shivers at the shoulder, arm, and wrist.
- Vanhee-Cybulski’s showcased narrow, disciplined-silhouette cigarette pants, pencil skirts, leather trenches and cropped luxury-utilitarian jackets.
- Givenchy’s Fall collection was powerfully yet lean cut in menswear checks – single-button coats, trousers and black coats.
- For Fall, Valentino offered flowing lines, flowers, layers, scalloped edges, and a vibrant, sophisticated colour sense. For evening numbers – there were completely covered-up gowns or ankle-length A-line tunics with slim trousers beneath. Piccioli handled both minimalism, in spare, dramatic shapes, and decorative embellishment in blown-up floral appliqués and jacquards.
